One or two pics from Mumbai still...
The world-renowned Victoria station - Indo-Saracenic architecture at it's best, and it looks like 'Maritzburg City Hall!
The whole group (well almost) at the Hanging Garden. The lush spot is "hanging" above a huge reservoir. We didn't drink the water from the reservoir.
Nearby we passed a Parsi body disposal shrine. They revere fire and earth, and so cannot bury or cremate their dead, so bodies are left for vultures to come and clean up. The birds are so accustomed to their treat, announced by a bell, that a body is cleaned up in 20 minutes.
Our first view of the Himalayas from the plane. It is hard to grasp the vastness and awesome beauty... Soon we will be up close and personal!
We were greeted with marigold garlands, and much "Namaste" (hello).
The traffic was so bad en route to the hotel, we got out and walked rather. This looks quite picturesque, but stank sooooo bad! Face masks definitely advised; the locals wear them quite a lot.
Thamel is the area where we are staying, and it is full of bargains for the skilled bargainer, colour, texture and wonders of all kinds!
