Day 11: Group 1

Group 1 news: We reached 5300m at Gokyo Ri. The most amazing views on
an absolutely clear morning! I have honestly never seen anything like
it and photos seriuosly don't do justice to how majestic these
mountains are!!!!!
WOW!!!!
It was freezing as we set out at 4am and reached the summit at 7am and
had an hour to take in the indescribable beauty that surrounded us.
Our guides treated us to some mint tea at the top, but sadly only 7of
the group made it to the top as the others rested or had to descend to
a lower altitude.
Back to the view: Did Imention that it was incredibly incredibly
incredibly indescribably beautiful!!!!WOW!!!
The trek to Gokyo was really beautiful as we passed three stunning
frozen lakes. The third lake being where our lodge was. It has really
been way more testing than any of us had imagined as the icy cold has
been unbearable at times. Some people have especially taken strain,
but our guides have been unbelievable in helping as well as the South
African Doctor Helen who helped a tremendous amount! We have plenty of
stroies to tell, but everyone is safe and healthy so there is no need
to worry!
Returning down the Gokyo valley was also stunning, with beautiful
forests and icefalls all along the way. We stayed the night in Photse,
with only a few rats in the ceiling keeping us up a bit!!
We then had quite a tough walk up the Everest valley with some amazing
views of Everest yesterday! We made it to Phereshe after some more icy
winds and steep uphills!
We are resting here for two days, had our washing done, SHOWERED for
R40 and eaten really well! We have also slept, read and played cards,
some much needed rest thatis for sure!!
Tomorrow we are off to Labuche where we meet up with group two and
move on from there to Base camp and the night at Gorek Shep!!!
We are almost there!!!
Will keep you posted!
Love to everyone
